its been a crazy crazy week. sitting down on a sunday night to recap the events gets just slightly overwhelming at times. but in the end, it all comes up for good. thanks be to God.
hari raya, ruth's little birthday surprise, crazy ambitious crash course on a level chem and a super shiok dinner at the vines (STEAK!) marked the start of the week. met up and had good chats and catch up sessions, and most importantly AG wise i think we were able to set aside some form of direction. culminated with friday's AG session. i am particularly encouraged=)
steak and good company (though a hole in the pocket) never fails to lift up the mood, despite the much work and reports. friends, never fail.
The German Dude
the motivation for blogging this time round would be wednesday's outing with my german friend, Norman. Norman is from Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. or at least he is there now, studying his engineering degree. He 25 and so on and so forth. A map of Ingolstadt is below.

the story.
this is how i met him: one month ago, i went to send my sister off to Canada. and thereafter i took the train to school. Norman approached me for directions to town, and since i was headed there, i thought i'd just have a chat with him. He was on transit, via Singapore to Australia to go on a road trip with his gf. i had a nice long chat with him, about an hour or so, and thereafter we exchanged contacts. we parted ways, and yup.
a month later, after he was done doing road trips of about 2000km or something while i was stuck at school, he emailed me to ask if i wanted to catch up. by some manner of coincidence, grace perhaps, his flight landing was JUST as i finished all my deadlines for the week! it was crazy, i was dead tired, but i could not pass up a dinner with Norman, my one hour old friend.
the madness!!
on wednesday, i was initially a bit hesitant about meeting up with him, after all he is this huge german dude whom i barely knew. however, i had a FANTASTIC time bringing him around, showing him around the school area i hate so much, talking to him about our culture and the german culture, his school life in Ingolstadt, his road trip in Aussie, my planned exchange to the US, his next summer trip to Rio (RIO!!!) and other SA countries, and yeah. it was so amazing, listening to how fortunate we are in Singapore to have what we have, the uniqueness (and cheapness) of our hawker centres. i actually gave him the choice between Bedok and Newton Hawker Centres, and he was like all for and pretty amazed (AND HAPPY) at th
e char kway teow, hokkien mee and chee kuay and teh bing which i bought for him. after bedok hawker centre, i brought him to the top of a nearby HDB flat to show him how most of us live here. and yeah, the real Singapore experience.
takeaways:
1. i like giving tours around Singapore. tour guide?
2. when i am young i can travel and see new things. worth paying a leeeetle bit more to leave your bags at the airport and spend an entire day milling about a new country/place on your own. :)
3. always talk to foreigners, or try to.we talked about religion a tad in the middle, but he couldn't give me in English what his particular denomination of Christianity was. all he told me was that he believed in God and that it was different from the RCs. ohwell. still learning, bit by bit, to have the courage to talk to people about my faith and my believes. challenging them, for the gospel.
stuff to look forward to:
match today was mehhh thanks to stupid injury, kena kneed at the quads, can barely walk, yet alone run. but it was good fun lar, team played well today against ARPC.:)
getting into the groove for school though and getting the hang of things, finally. and yup. praying about new developments.:)
